Curb appeal and outdoor rooms are in. When hardscapes are incorporated into a design, the average landscape is turned into an inviting and livable space.  Patios, walkways, stonewalls, landscape lighting and other hardscape features can beautifully transform a boring front entrance or a bland unlivable yard into an gorgeous and welcoming space that you and your guests can't wait to be in.  These outdoor areas add value to your property. Let's create something together.

Below is a list of the hardscape services and knowledge I can provide for you:

Irrigation – Whether planting new lawns, trees or an entire landscape, effective watering is crucial to establishing deep root systems. Drought can have lasting affects on plants. Over watering or poor drainage can cause phytophthora (root rot) and kill plants. Proper watering management can eliminate all these problems but can be time consuming. Irrigation helps make your life easier and your property more valuable.

Landscape Lighting – Light, placed strategically in a garden or along a walkway, provides a host of embellishments. It can create special effects that highlight the twilight. It can draw your eyes to a focal point such as a fountain or a specimen tree. The soft glow of ground lighting illuminates the way along a path. Up-lighting or down-lighting features strong shadowing and silhouettes. It's a beautiful way to enhance your property and add safety.

Patios – Patios are always a desired architectural feature in a well-designed landscape. They have many uses and can provide years of enjoyment. It can be an extension of a driveway or used for an outdoor kitchen area. It can be a large area where people gather or a small area for privacy. Sunny or shady, these low-maintenance areas add extra living spaces and pleasure to your property.

Fences & Gates – Whether formal or informal, fences and gates can perform a variety of tasks. They can help create outside rooms, add privacy, and allow for boundaries. Sometimes the role of a fence is to enhance the overall look of a house. Other times it shields against hard weather and noise. As part of the fence, gates create a certain theme, and act as a focal point to draw you into the outdoor living space. Fences and gates can be made out of many different types of mediums such as wood, stone, or hedge.

Stonewalls, Steps & Walkways – These hardscapes add great aesthetic value and practicality. Walls, steps and walkways can terrace a steep hill, embrace a natural landscape, and correct drainage problems. Coming in many shapes, sizes, and materials, each portrays its own personality. Their 3-D effect adds charm and character to any property.

Drainage & Grading – Drainage is a most important aspect in landscaping that is often overlooked. It is a good idea to plan for drainage before installing any softscape or hardscape. Pitching water away from the house, driveway, lawn and all areas where water builds up is critical to prevent pooling. Swales, walls, burms, catch basins or well drained soil may be ways to correct drainage problems.

* For larger job projects requiring a design and installation, I will speak with your architect, builder, survey or other engineers as needed. If necessary, I will visit your local town hall to clarify any needed permits, easements, wetlands or setback. In addition, if any other contractor is to be used, I will use only highly professional and qualified people most of whom I have worked with personally.
